Дорогие друзья! Представляю Вам Институт
проблем промышленной экологии Севера Кольского научного центра Российской
Академии наук.
Огромные масштабы вносимых человеком изменений
в природные процессы, предсказанные еще в начале века выдающимся русским
ученым В.И.Вернадским, уже стали реальностью. В 60-х годах общество начало
ощущать угрозу глобального загрязнения окружающей среды. Особо выделяются
экологические проблемы Севера, относящегося к территориям с высокой экологической
уязвимостью.
Освоение Севера, включая Мурманскую область, направлено на использование
природных ресурсов. При этом, как правило, хозяйственная деятельность
ведется без учета специфических природоохранных требований и без научной
базы по нормированию уровней загрязнения и критических нагрузок на экосистемы
для различных климатических зон.
Необходимость совершенствования экологической концепции природопользования,
формирование комплексного и всестороннего научного подхода к оценке состояния
живых организмов и среды их обитания побудили Президиум Академии наук
СССР создать в 1989 году первый в системе Академии наук и в стране в целом
Институт проблем промышленной экологии Севера (ИППЭС). Так было положено
начало научному эксперименту, когда специалисты различных научных направлений
экологического профиля были объединены для достижения общей цели -разработки
научных основ экологической оптимизации природопользования на Севере на
примере Кольского полуострова как наиболее урбанизированного комплексно
развитого горно-металлургического региона Крайнего Севера России.
По истечении 10 лет активной деятельности небольшого коллектива единомышленников,
признавая его научный авторитет не только в нашей стране, но и за рубежом,
нам нельзя не вспомнить трудное время организации и становления Института.
Наш успех стал возможен, поскольку он зародился многие годы назад в научных
учреждениях Кольского научного центра и развивался благодаря помощи и
поддержке крупнейших ученых и организаторов академической науки академиков
Г.И.Марчука, Н.П.Лаверова, Б.С.Соколова, М.И.Агошкова, Д.В.Рундквиста,
Ю.А.Израэля, член-корреспондентов Г.И.Горбунова, В.Т.Калинникова и укреплялся
в процессе международной интеграции, в первую очередь, с коллегами из
скандинавских стран.

Dear friends, you are welcome to the Institute of the Industrial
Ecological Problems of the North, within the Kola Science Centre of the
Russian Academy of Sciences. Large scale changes introduced by human activity
which were forecast at the beginning of the 20thC by the outstanding Russian
scientist V.I.Vernadsky have now become reality.
During the 1960s, society began to understand the potential threats from
global environmental pollution. The most vulnerable regions were found
to be the regions of the Far North and Arctic. The development of the
north, including Murmansk Region, is focused upon the exploitation and
use of natural resources. In parallel, this economic activity proceeded
without adequate understanding of the specific environmental impact and
consequent protective response. In addition, no account was taken of the
scientific foundations for the sustainable maximum levels environmental
pollution within different ecosystems and climatic zones.
The Institute of Industrial Ecological Problems of the North (INEP) was
the first Research Institute (of the Russian Academy of Sciences) to be
established in 1989 in response to the need for a scientific framework
as the basis for improving the use and management of natural resources.
This was the first time that scientists from various ecological disciplines
and profiles came together to work on complex scientific ecological issues
and problems these issues focused upon the complex ecological problems
within the Kola Peninsula and the Far Northern &Arctic Regions of
Russia. In particular, the research focused upon optimization of the use
&management of these widespread natural resources.
Following 10 years of focused intensive activity, there is now an international
recognition of such environmental issues & concerns. However, one
still cannot help remembering the difficult times during the early years
of the foundation of INEP. Our success became possible because the first
ideas were born at the research laboratories of the Kola Science Centre
under the leadership & support of such famous Russian scientists &
managers as: Academicians G.I.Marchuk, N.P.Laverov, B.S.Sokolov, M.I.Agoshkov,
D.V.Rundqvist, Yu.A.Israel, & Corresponding Members of the Russian
Academy of Sciences, G.I.Gorbunov, V.T. Kalinnikov. They all helped to
establish and maintain the process of international integration for INEP,
with a primary focus on the neighbouring Nordic Countries.
